Curriculum

Snaresbrook College takes pupils from age three-and-a-half to age eleven. At age three-and-a-half children enter the Nursery, and then progress through Reception to Years One through Six. All classes are small and include both boys and girls.

We provide a rounded primary education covering every aspect of your child's early development. The curriculum is designed to prepare pupils for public and grammar school entrance and scholarship examinations and all types of secondary education.

Our curriculum includes all the National Curriculum subjects including Mathematics, English, I.C.T. and Science as well as History, Geography, Religious Education, French, Music, Drama, Art, Design and Technology and Physical Education. An introduction to Latin also forms part of the junior curriculum and a progressive programme of Physical, Social and Health Education (PSHE) is followed by all years.

Each child is introduced to subjects with great care and sensitivity by working individually, in small groups or with the whole class. We try to find the approach which enables each child to learn and work with enjoyment and enthusiasm and to relate well with fellow pupils.

At age 11, we find that Snaresbrook children are confident, cheerful and courteous, with a good sense of community and a readiness to care for each other and the world around them. They have learned how to work in the way that suits them best, are receptive to teaching and well prepared for the next stage of their education and development. Our guiding intention is to achieve excellence in academic work, the arts, and sport while fostering happiness, self-worth and a sound set of practical values in your child.

Year group classes may be split into smaller groups for some subject teaching or to enable children's learning to be supported or extended beyond the range of the year group. The guiding principle is to find the right and best approach for every child and to instil a sense of fun and discovery into the learning process.

"We are all friends in our class." Tiegan, Age 9
